Please note that the above timetable is only an indication of our weekly schedule. Setting on a sailing trip is an adventure, so keep an open mind, in case the weather decides for us to change our destinations. If the Aegean and the winds decide for us not to sail to our destination for the day, we will change our timetable accordingly. The boat crew will make our journey as pleasant as possible making safety and comfort a priority.
The Yoga Practice
This Anahata Yoga & Sailing retreat has been created with the intention to help the participants heal and reconnect with their blissful body ( Anandamaya Kosha). Spending seven days on a boat, connecting with the elements, the sun and the sea, the wind and the earth is in its own right a profoundly powerful and therapeutic experience. We can’t promise it will always be a “pleasant” experience as exploring oneself can bring up painful emotions as well. We strongly recommend keeping a daily journal of your experience. Get on board and choose to be the witness of your thoughts and emotions as you witness the motion of the waves, the movement of the sun and the direction of the wind. Choose to be the observer and start by observing the breath.
7:00 – 9:00 Pranayama – Asana
Peter will introduce you to four different pranayama practices (calming, energising, balancing and cleansing breathing techniques) that will help you enhance the quality of your daily life.
Pranayama will be followed by asana practice. Learn the Dance of Shiva and Shakti and the Five Element Form, to gently energise and strengthen your body. Peter will lead the beautiful Anahata Yoga practice with a focus on being attentive to what your body needs, coming from a space of love and compassion, choosing to learn and evolve each day.
14:00 – 15:00 Yoga Philosophy
The sun is strong and the heat brings a sweet lethargic mood. Why not relax in the company of our Anahata family and learn about yoga philosophy and the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Peter with his over 50 years of experience in practicing and teaching yoga has lots of stories to share that will make you realise that there is so much more to yoga than just asana.
17:30 – 18:30 The Five Element Form
This is an ancient practice from the north of India. The form is traditionally played in nature and this retreat will be a perfect opportunity to practice the form. The Five Element Form is part of an ancient Tantric Yoga practice known as Tattwa Shuddhi Sadhana, element purification practice. The Form is a sequence of flowing movements resembling traditional vinyasa yoga asana and although similar to Tai Chi and Chi Kung, it is a traditional ancient Indian practice. It connects us to the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and akasha. The Form uses breath, creative visualisation and healing colours and sounds in a powerful, transformative physical and spiritual practice that unites the five sheaths (Pancha Koshas).
20:00 – 20:30 Yoga Nidra – Meditation
Peter will introduce you to the practice of Yoga Nidra, Yoga Nyasa, and Meditation. Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep brings the practitioner into a state of deep relaxation and from this state, one can set powerful intentions. With Yoga Nyasa, you will explore the ability of the mind and its imagination to creatively visualize a life of vitality, health, and longevity. We will also practice Meditations to clear the mind of confusion and to contemplate on the question “Who am I?”
We have created this retreat with love and with the intention to open the heart of each one of the participants of this event. We are hoping that the practice of Anahata Yoga, the power of nature and the special energies of the places we will be visiting along with our intentions can bring along the magic of yoga, and create a sense of contentment, Santosha, for each member of the family.
